Coming Home

Homelessness may never go away completely but Deed and Truth is working to end homelessness one family at a time. This week Deed and Truth ended homelessness for Arpa and her 2 year old son, Julian. They are our second family for the new House to Home (H2H) Ministry. Arpa and Julian arrived at Hope Gardens less than 2 years ago. After experiencing severe domestic violence, trauma and a history of drug addiction, she was determined to get her life back on track. Arpa and I had an immediate cultural connection, her being first generation Armenian American and me being Greek. This "literally" opened the door to many hours of deep life discussions, leaving regrets behind, and walking in the powe

HOUSE2HOME

Deed & Truth launched a new ministry called House2Home (H2H) to assist successful Hope Gardens graduates who complete the program, overcome addictions, secure a full time job, save their money and secure housing. She brought her mother into her home to live with them and to watch the children while she is at work. Daisy drives over an hour to work each day where she serves as a case manager for a treatment center for women experiencing trauma, sexual abuse, addictions, and mental health issues. When we got there she literally had no furniture expect some

Over the past 3 years at Hope Gardens, Daisy not only graduated the program but also completed an apprenticeship acquiring important job skills. With this experience under her belt, Daisy transitioned into a full time job at Big Lots and then interviewed for a full time position at El Proyecto Treatment Center. Her heart’s desire is to give back to those in need and share the love of Chri

PRAYING FOR THE CITY

Since 1973, when Mayor Tom Bradley asked area pastors to meet with him in prayer for the city, civic and religious leaders have gathered annually to celebrate God's blessing and seek His guidance and protection for our city and her leaders. This year’s keynote speaker is Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Ministries. Many government officials, religious and community leaders will be lifting up prayers for our city. The Union Rescue Mission is the hosting sponsor of this citywide event. Deed & Truth is coming along side and will have numerous tables at the breakfast. We’d like you to join us for a morning of inspiration, prayer, and good fellowship. Tickets are only $28.50 per person and parking i
