Do you live “under the circumstances”? Is your joy and thankfulness determined by your circumstances or do you live above them?

Meet two people who are thankful and joyful even on skid row!

Meet Kandice… she works on the fourth floor at the mission. She serves our single mothers and their children. It’s over-crowded and she sees suffering every day. She can focus on the suffering or the transformation she sees. Listen to Kandice as she sings about her love for the Lord into her imaginary microphone…

Meet Phillip… he lives at the mission. Phillip’s nickname is “the Voice” because anytime you visit the fifth floor senior wing you will hear Phillip. He likes to express himself. He enjoys others because he’s been transformed from being the “street kid” to become an adopted child of God.

Phillip came into my office the other day and began to tell me about his joy for the Lord. He’s trying something new to go along with his new life in Jesus… Singing a new song while Dancing unto the Lord!

Check out Phillip’s New Groove…

Kandice and Phillip are joyful this thanksgiving weekend… not because they spend time on skid row but because God lives on Skid Row… God is working in and through Kandice and is also Phillip’s life-long roommate!

Let me encourage you to follow Kandice and Phillilp’s example… Give thanks regardless of your feelings and Jesus will give joy regardless of your circumstances!
