In His Image

Martin Luther King Jr. was the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. This past Monday a special event was held in Reseda to honor people in the community whose life and work reflect his image…

We are pleased to announce that Betty Anderson was awarded the “Humanitarian Award”, one of four honorees at the 22nd Annual Dr. MLK Image Awards Musical for her ministry efforts at Hope Gardens.

Congratulations Betty, we are proud you and your efforts to help the hurting in our community. Also, we want to put a shout out to those who came all the way from San Clemente to be a part of this special evening. Your support was a BIG encouragement for Betty and I and the importance of this ministry.

MLK Quotes

"True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice."

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

"There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”

"Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.”

"A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.”

"I have decided to stick to love ... Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

"Everybody can be great ... because anybody can serve.”

"We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.”

"We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope.”

"I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.”

"We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”

"We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love."
