“And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded." – Matthew 10:42
Anytime the temperature hits 85 degrees or hotter in Los Angeles we hit to the streets on Water Walks. We take carts filled with cases of cold water to refresh the people living on the street. This is a way to express the compassion of Jesus in deed and truth.
It’s a practical expression that is well appreciated when the heat is reflecting off the cement sidewalks of skid row. Cold water is hard to come by so we place the water in the freezer for a few hours before we go out.
Men from our program, staff, and church volunteers go with us as we meet our neighbors and give them water in the name of Jesus. Everyone returns sharing what a great time it was to be givers by interacting with the least of these in a very simple and practical way.
If you’re looking for a safe way to experience the realities of the sights, sounds, and smells of skid row while representing Jesus in a real sense come on down and bring your group for a Water Walk around the mission.
