Written and spoken words can be powerful… but sometimes words aren’t enough. That’s why God took things to a whole new level at Christmas... “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Christmas is the celebration of the incarnation of Christ.
This Christmas season, Deed and Truth is offering you an opportunity to do some incarnational ministry of your own.
Would you like to come to skid row and spend time with the poor and needy? You are invited to join us Saturday, December 17th from 10am-noon as we hand out candy canes, Christmas literature, and socks. We will be blessing the guests inside the Union Rescue Mission as well as the neighbors who live on the streets of skid row. Some will be passing out gifts while others can be a part of the Caroling team as we walk the streets of skid row spreading Christmas cheer. We will conclude with a Subway sandwich lunch on the roof overlooking Los Angeles before heading home.
If you can’t make it on the 17th but still want to help... you can donate to help us purchase 1000 pairs of socks along with candy canes and Christmas literature. For every $30 we can give these combinations of gifts to ten people.
We will also be hosting Christmas Celebrations for our staff at Hope Gardens as well as some of the men and women at the mission. Deed and Truth will be providing Action Bibles for Christmas gifts. You may wish to purchase a Christmas bible or devotional as a gift for us to give away. Your gift of $50 will allow us to give three gift Bibles.
